Garden room
roofed it in corrugated perspex and built french doors onto the little garden at the back with perspex doors, to keep the cost and risk of accidents down.
It was meant to be a summer play room for the little children, but it didn't get much use partly because the interior can't be seen from the house, so I'd have to be out there with them for it to be safe. So now we want to remove some side panels and put in another door there.
The panels are bolted together like this:
so it's quite easy to take them apart, but they're extremely heavy. They're also difficult to drill, so the new doorframe will be fitted to the existing bolt positions.
Also, half the roof blew off over the winter. We fixed it according to the product instructions but I guess they didn't take into account the windspeeds we get up here in winter. So a lot of panels need replacing too, and the whole roof needs lashing down on every ridge this time. We'll put a facing board on too, which might help matters.
If the roof holds this winter, we'll invest in pine cladding for the floor and walls next spring. If not, it's back to the drawing board. We might give up with the whole structure and just extend the garden there instead.
